Graduated from CHS in 1960, studied at Nyack College in Nyack NY, graduating in 1964. Married Judy a week after graduation. We did grad school, 1965-66, then a year's internship in Detroit MI. In August 1967, we flew to Brazil with one-year old Tommy, as missionaries. Came back to the State in 1994, worked in our church national office in Colorado Springs from 1994 to 2000, then returned to Brazil in early 2001 and worked there till December of 2004. We responded to a call from our home church in Hockessin DE, where we pastored from January 2005 to the fall of 2009. Presently I am Men's Program Director (substance abuse program) at the Sunday Breakfast Mission in Wilmington DE, and Judy is Admin. Asst. to the President. We live in the home that my Dad built the year I went to college and love this gracious space that God has given us.

OK, today is November 23, 2012, and it's time for an update. Since the end of February 2012 when I retired from SBM in Wilmington, I have been given myself to an Portuguese World Outreach, a ministry to serve the Portuguese-speaking church around the world. I have traveled about 32,000 miles in the past 6 months, to Angola, Portugal and Brazil, and am having a wonderful time. I am "officially retired," but not very! I travel to teach, preach, mentor and do support ministries. I will do this as long as God enables, provides and I feel that I am an asset to those who I am serving.

OK, today is October 22, 2015. So it's probably time that I update this. I continue to live in Newark DE with wife Judy. We also have our youngest son, Phil and family living with us. Long story that involves his first wife's early demise. He is actively seeking to move to his own home, and our prayers are directed towards that end.

I continue to travel about 3 or 4 times a year to Brazil, Portugal and Cabinda, Angola. I teach, preach, lead prayer seminars, etc.

Recently, I just completed a three-year project, publishing my book, "So Being Sent, They Went - a History of the C&MA Mission in Cabinda - from 1885 to 1957." This is a book that the popular public will say, "huh?" But if you are interested in reading a good account of what it was like to be a missionary in the Congo over 100 years ago, this is one for you. Can be bought on Lulu.com. Paperback is already out, hardback and Kindle to follow.

I am sorry that I missed the latest Class of 1960 Reunion. I was in Brazil. Hope I can make the next one. Blessings to one and all.

I am now in the process of publishing my "Cabinda" book in Portuguese and will be traveling there in June to teach in their Bible Institute. The history of their church as found in the book will be one of the courses.

I seem to have stumbled on this new avocation. Research and writing is something I really enjoy. I guess Dr. Jordan would be happy with me, but I don't want her editing my work!

School Story:

Maybe a bit libelous, but I recall marching band and the CHS football games. Our director, Mr. Rudy DeFelice (sic?) would prepare for the very cold and windy games by drinking an ample supply of "anti-freeze." So as we kids marched and shivered on the "frozen tundra" of Chester High Field, "Mr. D." was feeling no pain.

OK, guess I will check in and let you all know that I saw the sun rise this morning, and all is well in the Jones household. Judy just hit the double perfect number (if you get the jist), and I will hit 78 next month. Both of us have good health. I have been going thru a "get Dave's old carcass in shape" routine recently. After the knee replacement surgery in early 2018, I got my wheels back and walking is a pleasure again. I just had cataracts removed from both eyes and am amazed and delighted to see how bright and light the world is again. Then, I saw a dentist, first time in some time, and he repaired one and a half crack upper molars. So my bite is tight and my tongue doesn't have to constantly be exploring the crevass. Now, to get some hearing aids. "What'd you say?" If I am one on one, hearing is OK but in a crowd or with background noise, "Huh?" So that is the next thing on the list. Otherwise, weight not too bad, heart and lungs are good. Brain? Well, not much you can do for that particular body part.

I did publish another history last year, "A.B. The Unlikely Leader of a Global Movement" which is available on Amazon. I have finished another manuscript to be published about evangelism in Central Asia, to come out in October of this year. I also have a few other projects I am working on, interim pastor, a teaching video series, and some overseas trips. Otherwise, I'm "living the abundant life." I hope all of you are well and trust that God is blessing you and yours.

It was great to see all of our friends and classmates from 1960. I hope that we will be on the right side of the turf to have many more reunions. A bg hand for Bob Ennamorato.

Hi, I wasn't aware that Lefty had passed away. I apparently missed the notice. I am very sorry to hear this. He was a good guy and so sorry for his family.

Well, I guess an update is in order. Since last post, much has happened. I resigned from Sunday Breakfast Mission and I minister all over the Portuguese-speaking world. My son moved back home with us, remarried, and now we have another grandbaby with us. All is well, for which we are very thankful to the Lord.

Hey Ed, this is Dave Jones. Remember, you and me and Harry Leonard and John Harrison used to walk to CHS together. I see that you are in Florida. We live in Newark DE. Put a pix up, friend, so that I can see the ravages that life has placed on you:>) Forgive the sick humor. I haven't gotten any better in my elderly states. Blessings on you and yours, Dave Jones
